$1.99 Per Gallon Gas Goes On Sale Friday Reminds Me of The Good Ole Days

FREE GASDrivers in Kansas City are paying between $3.85 and $3.92 for a gallon of gas Thursday, according to automotive.com.The city of Branson, Mo., is sponsoring a chance to cut that number nearly in half Friday.

Branson is seeing fewer vacationers this summer season, so the Branson/Lakes Area Convention and Visitors Bureau will sponsor a fuel sale they hope will lead to long lines that go beyond the pumps.

At 9:50 a.m. on Friday, Branson will offer a $1.99 per gallon gas discount to Kansas City-area residents to remind them that “Branson is less than a tank away,” according to Lynn Berry, Director of Public Relations for Branson CVB.

To get the fuel, consumers must listen to radio stations Q-104, 94.1 KFKF, Mix 93.3 and Star 102. Each station will simultaneously broadcast four GasMart USA locations offering the $1.99 gallon gas over their airwaves.

Branson is allowing a 20 gallon per vehicle maximum on the lowest grade unleaded gasoline while supplies last.

Branson advertises their hotels, shows and attractions prices are well below national averages. They call Branson the Midwest’s Best Vacation Value.

The city is still having trouble drawing crowds. They hope giving hundreds of people in the Kansas City area the opportunity to “gas up and come on down” for a great family getaway will pay-off

It's a pretty neat marketing idea but it sounds like a huge pain in the ass. You have to listen to certain radio stations at certain times to find certain stations with limited supply. I wouldn't deal with all that.

I believe that's a very good marketing idea as rwallen said.
